$5,000 raised at Arts Council's
Celebrity Teapot Auction
A lively audience of over 100 people, helped raise over $5,000 for the Arts Council's ArtWorks program at the Arts Council's Celebrity Teapot Auction. The Auction was held November 7 at the Rochester Public Library's Kate Gleason Auditorium. 28 teapots were auctioned off by Carol Ritter, Auctioneer.
Many of the celebrities who had decorated the teapots were in
attendance, including Don Alhart, Sally Cohen, Ann Fisher and
Rochester's Mayor, Bill Johnson. During the auction preview, guests were entertained by the Smugtown Stompers with vocalist Carol Mulligan.
Twenty-eight local celebrities from Rochester's educational, business, cultural, athletic, media and government spheres gave their time to decorate teapots at a local "paint your own pottery" business, Bisque & Brush.

Through ArtWorks, apprentice artists increase their appreciation for process, develop effective work habits, and develop expressive skills. In the summer of 1999, 50 apprentices were employed at minimum wage to make art under the direction of professional artists.
