Len Urso Donates Sculpture to Benefit Metalsmithing and Jewelry Student Conference Fund

February 14, 2002 Rochester NY- Leonard Urso, the Ann Mowris Mulligan Distinguished Profesor of Contemporary American Crafts, of the Metalsmithing and Jewelry Department at Rochester Institute of Technology has donated the sculpture, entitled WIND DANCE, to benefit the Metalsmithing and Jewelry Student Conference Fund. A full six feet tall, the sculpture is crafted from copper and is valued in excess of $8,000. The money raised from the raffle will make it possible for students to attend the Society of North American Goldsmiths conference Tickets are available for purchase for $100 each. The drawing will be held March 15, 2002.

Each year the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) conference opens with several juried and professional shows featuring the works of artists from around the country, followed by three days of lectures given by leaders in the field. Five students from RIT will be showing their work in the exhibitions.
