Arts & Cultural Council Announces
2006 Arts Awards Winners

October 24 th Luncheon at Rochester Riverside Convention Center to Honor Eight Outstanding Individuals and Organizations who have made an Impact on our Region

 

Rochester , N.Y. , August 3, 2006 – The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester is pleased to announce 2006 Arts Awards honorees. On Tuesday, October 24, 2006, arts, cultural, and civic leaders will salute the eight recipients of the Arts & Cultural Council’s distinguished award, bestowed each year on individuals and organizations that have made a significant, demonstrable contribution to the growth and well-being of the greater Rochester cultural community.

This year’s recipients of the 2006 Arts Awards are:

“Leadership in the arts takes many forms,” says Sarah E. Lentini, president and CEO of the Arts & Cultural Council. “Many artists and cultural organizations that make their home here are known both inside and outside of Rochester. They do incredible work on behalf of our community that is vital to a strong economic future. The Arts Awards is an opportunity for us to show our appreciation to these outstanding leaders.”

The 2006 awards mark the 23 rd year of the Arts Awards and bring the total to 133 recipients who have been honored with the distinction of receiving these highly competitive awards. Previous recipients include: Wendell Castle, Eastman Kodak Company, Steve Gadd, Garth Fagan Dance, George Eastman House, Albert Paley, Linda Sue Park, Ramon Santiago, and Christopher Seaman.

Recipients were selected by the Arts & Cultural Council’s awards committee, comprised of Grace Tillinghast, Chair; Charlotte Herrera; Robert Hursh; Jack Langerak; and Joanna Scott.
