The Memorial Art Gallery is accepting applications from artists who wish to participate in the M&T Bank Clothesline Festival, Saturday and Sunday, September 9 and 10. The festival, which this year celebrates 50 years, showcases original work by artists from a 27-county region of western and central New York.
Artists must be 18 years of age and reside in one of the following counties:
Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Genesee, Erie, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming or Yates.
Each year sees the addition of more festivals, but Clothesline remains a favorite with artists. Because the Gallery charges admission and screens the work of the exhibitors, serious shoppers are more in evidence than at other festivals. In 2005, Clothesline attracted more than 25,000 visitors.
