Arts & Cultural Council Honors Community Members at 2004 Annual Meeting


Rochester, NY July 14, 2004-
The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester recognized the contributions to the community of the following individuals at the Annual Meeting on July 14, 2004:

Champion of the Arts Award: Hon. Raymond A. Santirocoo, Ph. D. Raymond Santirocco served as the Arts & Cultural Council’s Chairman of the Board from 2002 to 2004. He championed the arts with his work navigating the county budget issues in 2002 and 2003, with the outcome being that 21 organizations whose funding was in question were able to remain in a funding relationship with Monroe County. He provided the guidance to take the Arts & Cultural as an organization to the next level, and projects begun under his leadership include the Arts Council’s new facilities and gallery and the creation of a marketing plan for the Arts sector. He also served as the Chair of the Performing Arts Center Steering Committee for the last 18 months.

• Volunteer of the Year: Kelly Cheatle, Greener Pastures Design and Illustration Kelly Cheatle has served on the Arts & Cultural Council’s Communications Committee since 2000. She has donated hundreds of hours of creative services, including the design for the Arts Council’s new logo which was unveiled in 2003.

• Board Volunteer of the Year: Michael J. Cooney, Esq. Michael Cooney has served on the Arts Council’s Board of Directors since 1998. He has provided over $10,000 in pro bono legal services to the Arts Council, and its membership and served as the Co-Chair of the Art’s Council’s Annual Arts Awards Luncheon since 2001.
