Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester Announces New Officers and Board Members

Rochester, NY, June 22, 2007 —The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester is pleased to announce new officers and members elected to the Board of Directors.

The following officers have been elected to a second one-year term:

Leonard Urso (Rochester), Chair, Leonard Urso is a distinguished professor and Ann Mowris Mulligan Endowed Chair in the School for American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology and a local artist who has exhibited nationally and internationally.

Paul Burgett (Rochester), Vice Chair, Paul Burgett is vice president and general secretary, University of Rochester, former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Strong Museum, is a trustee of the Genesee Country Village and Museum, the Hillside Family of Agencies, and chairman of the National Advisory Board of the Center for Black Music Research at Columbia College Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music.

Charlotte Herrera (Webster), Vice Chair, Charlotte Herrera is the past president and a current board member of the Memorial Art Gallery and a past president of the Gallery Council. She is also past president of the Alliance Monroe County Medical Society and a co-founder and past president of the Parent Teacher Organization at Holy Trinity School.

Darrell Hearne , (Pittsford), Treasurer, Darrell Hearne is vice president of accounting at Constellation Brands, Inc. where he is responsible for the accounting function of the company. Besides being the treasurer of the Arts Council’s Board of Directors he is also the finance committee chairperson.

The following officers have been elected to a first one-year term:

Hon. Jeffery L. McCann , ( Greece), Secretary, Jeffery L. McCann is Monroe County Legislator for the 19 th Legislative District, which encompasses portions of the Town of Greece. He is also deputy supervisor for the Town of Greece. Mr. McCann is currently a board member of the Family Resource Centers of Rochester, president of Municipal Projects, Inc. (Munipro), Town of Greece Local Development Corporation, and board member of Science Enhancement Opportunities, Inc.

The following directors have been elected for a first three-year term:

Christopher Dahl , (Geneseo), Christopher Dahl is president of SUNY Geneseo, president of Rochester Area Colleges and the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC), and is chair of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, board member of Center for Governmental Research, and past chair of Allendale Columbia School.

Grace Tillinghast ( Greece), Grace Tillinghast is a board member of the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, a member of the Rochester Hispanic Business Association, Grantmakers Forum of NY, and a volunteer at Bishop Kearney High School.

Hon. Wayne Zyra (Brockport), The Honorable Wayne Zyra is president of the Monroe County Legislature. Mr. Zyra represents the legislative branch of county government on the boards of many local agencies, including the Genesee Transportation Council, the Greater Rochester Visitors Association, Rochester Museum & Science Center and Monroe Community College.

The Board of Directors also re-elected the following directors for a second three-year term:

Joanna Scott ( Rochester)

Gregory W. Smith (Penfield)

The Arts & Cultural Council Board of Directors has 34 members who are dedicated to promoting creativity and innovation.
