Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester Presents “The New World” New Work By Leonard Urso

June 30, 2005 Rochester, NY- The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester’s gallery presents “The New World”, an exhibit of all-new work by Leonard Urso through July 14.

Leonard Urso was born in 1953 and grew up in Rome, New York. His pursuit of art began when he was a young man and eventually led him to study at the State University of New Paltz. After graduating with a MFA Degree, Leonard began his professional career as a designer and silversmith for Oneida Ltd. Silversmiths. Currently Leonard holds an endowed chair as the Ann Mowris Mulligan Distinguished Professor.

The Leonard Urso art studio is located in Rochester. Leonard is actively involved in creating large and small scale sculptures, paintings, as well as silver and jewelry art forms. Leonard’s art is exhibited nationally and internationally, and represented in several museums and both corporate and private collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Memorial Art Gallery of Rochester, Shanghai University of China, Kanazawa University of Japan, The New York Times, Bucknell University, The Times Mirror Company, Humana Inc., Bausch & Lomb World Headquarters, Colgate University, Garth Fagan Dance, Sybron Corporation, and The Washington Post.

The gallery is located at the Arts Council’s offices at 277 North Goodman Street and is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
