Artists Working with Kids, a discussion featuring Heather and Darren Stevenson of PUSH Physical Theatre, is topic of the Arts & Cultural Council’s May 10 th Networking Program

 

Rochester, N.Y., April 17, 2006 – PUSH Physical Theatre founders Heather and Darren Stevenson will lead a discussion of “Artists Working with Kids” at the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester’s May 10 Artist Networking Program. Participants are invited to join in the discussion, which will explore the creative benefits of working with kids, practical techniques for connecting with your students, working with classroom teachers, and effective classroom management.

PUSH Physical Theatre has performed throughout the country and participated in arts-in-education programs at local schools. Their work has been described as “a cross between fine art sculpture and the hit movie The Matrix.” Mr. Stevenson recently received an Arts & Cultural Council Individual Artist Project Grant, in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts, for work on “The Galileo Project,” a collaboration with musician Glenn McClure and Dava Sobel, author of the best-selling novel, Galileo’s Daughter .

Artist Networking Programs take place at the Arts & Cultural Council, 277 N. Goodman Street, starting with registration and refreshments from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The artists’ discussion will take place from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., followed by more networking time, until 8:30 p.m. This program is free to members and students, and $5 for non-members.
