Arts & Cultural Council Announces $5,000 in Special Opportunity Stipends For 2004

Rochester, NY March 9, 2004- The Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester announces the Special Opportunity Stipends (S.O.S.) for the Genesee Valley/Finger Lakes Region. Eleven (11) visual and performing artists received a total of $5,000 in funding. Three times per year funds totaling up to $5,000 in each round are awarded in $50 - $600 stipends for artists in all disciplines. Artists will use their stipends to take advantage of career-building opportunities that will take place between March and June 2004. Recipients must reside in one of the following counties: Monroe, Cayuga, Livingston, Genesee, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Yates, Wayne, or Wyoming.
The next round of applications will be due on May 24, 2004. The Arts & Cultural Council will hold two grant seminars to assist potential applicants with the grants process. Both seminars will be held at the Arts Council’s offices at 277 N. Goodman Street, Rochester, NY 14607. The seminars will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 4-5 pm and Monday, May 10, noon – 1 pm/
The Special Opportunity Stipend program is funded by the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester through the New York Foundation for the Arts. The program is administered by the Arts and Cultural Council in association with area arts councils.
