News Arts & Cultural Council to Present Second Annual Community Spirit Award to the Democrat and Chronicle

Rochester, NY April 25, 2001- The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester is pleased to announce the recipient of its second annual Community Spirit Award.

The award will be presented to the Democrat and Chronicle for the creation of www.goforthecold.com, the official website for the 2002 coldrush campaign.

Kicked off in January 2002, the second annual coldrush campaign was developed by the Greater Rochester Visitors Association in partnership with the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester. Designed to promote the Rochester region and showcase the area's attractions during the winter months, coldrush will now be an annual promotion of the Greater Rochester Visitors Association and the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.

www.goforthecold.com featured articles on local attractions, on-line hotel and car rental reservations and linkage to the Arts Council's on-line events calendar.

The Community Spirit Award is presented annually to a local organization working in partnership with the Arts & Cultural Council on projects benefiting both the cultural sector and the Greater Rochester community at large.

The 2002 Community Spirit Award will be presented at the Arts & Cultural Council's Annual Meeting on May 2nd, 2001, at 4:00 pm at the Memorial Art Gallery. In addition to the Community Spirit Award, we will also be recognizing the contributions of a select number of individuals to the Arts & Cultural Council and the local arts and cultural community.
