Arts & Cultural Council to Establish Artist Fellowship Fund through Horses On Parade Auction Procedes
Rochester, NY June 15, 2001 - The Arts and Cultural for Greater Rochester is pleased to announce the formation of an Artists Fellowship Fund, to be seeded through charitable contributions it receives from the auction. When the Horses are auctioned off this fall to benefit local non-profit organizations, the Arts & Cultural Council will channel any designated funding it receives into this newly created fellowship fund. In doing this, the Arts & Cultural Council hopes to extend the impact and visibility of the Horses on Parade community art project beyond the project period in a way that gives back to our local artist community.
Annually the fund would provide one artist fellowship to a significant emerging artist in the visual, performing media or literary arts, which would be awarded through a juried committee process including of community experts convened by the Arts & Cultural Council.
Sarah Lentini, Executive Director of the Arts & Cultural Council, states "Rochester's vibrant arts and cultural community is what make this region a very attractive place to live. By establishing the Artist Fellowship Fund the Horses On Parade project will have an on-going impact and visibility for the arts community region-wide. It is an investment in the future of our community's artists."
Tom Hubbard, President and CEO of High Falls Brewing Company and the driving forces behind the Horses On Parade project, stated "I'm really impressed with the quality and the creativity of the Horses and our artist community. The Arts & Cultural Council's Fellowship Fund is a terrific opportunity to reinvest in the arts community."
