Arts & Cultural Council to Present First Annual Community Spirit Awards to High Falls Brewing Company and Greater Rochester Visitors Association

Rochester, NY May 23, 2001- The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester is pleased to announce the recipients of its first annual Community Spirit Awards: High Falls Brewing Company and Greater Rochester Visitors Association. Both of these organizations partnered with the Arts & Cultural Council this past year on key projects that had broad community impact and generated a high level of community enthusiasm.

High Falls Brewing Company and Dixon Schwabl Advertising, working in cooperation with the Arts & Cultural Council, coordinated Horses On Parade. This community art project has involved many enthusiastic corporate citizens, talented artists, and dedicated community organizations. Over 150 fiberglass horses painted and embellished by regional artists will be on view throughout the Rochester area over the summer months.

Kicked off in January 2001, the first annual coldrush campaign was developed by the Greater Rochester Visitors Association in partnership with the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester. Designed to promote the Rochester region and showcase the area's attractions during the winter months, coldrush will now be an annual promotion of Greater Rochester Visitors Association and the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.

The 2001 Community Spirit Awards will be presented at the Arts & Cultural Council's annual meeting on May 31st, 2001 at 4:00 pm at Strong Museum. In addition to the Community Spirit Awards, we will also be recognizing the contributions of a select number of individuals and organizations to the Arts & Cultural Council and the local arts and cultural community.
