ARTS & CULTURAL COUNCIL SEEKS ARTISTS AND ARTS & CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS
APPLICATION WORKSHOP
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11, 2001, 5-6 pm
Rochester, NY., March 26. 2001 - Professional artists, from visual, performing or literary arts disciplines, and Arts & Cultural Organizations are invited to submit proposals for the Summer ArtWorks 2001-a job based employment program for youth, ages 14 and 15 with age appropriate arts-based curriculums. The deadline for proposals is Tuesday, May 1, 2001.
An Application Workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, 5-6 pm at the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester, 277 North Goodman Street, Rochester.
ArtWorks will take place at the School of the Arts, 45 Prince Street, Rochester, and potentially other sites, between July 16 and August 24, 2001. We will be selecting four programs representing a range of visual, performing and literary arts.
Selected teaching artists will provide instruction and mentoring to apprentice artists who benefit from improved thinking skills, personal qualities, interpersonal skills, and academic skills. ArtWorks is based on the premise that the arts prepare young people for the work force. The ArtWorks environment is a work place. Apprentices (the students), most of whom have little or no previous art experience, will be paid at minimum wage ($5.15/hr) to work 20 hours per week, from 10 am to 2:30 p.m.
