About This Calendar

All events are open to the public.

The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester is collaborating with a broad spectrum of the community and its membership to provide a comprehensive calendar of events in the Greater Rochester/Finger Lakes region including the ten counties of Cayuga, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.

The Rochester Area Community Foundation is helping make this calendar available through a grant. The support to cover the remaining expenses of the site will come from banner ads, user fees, and memberships.

This calendar evolved from CAROL (Culture and Arts of Rochester On Line) a collaborative group including Rochester Institute of Technology, the City of Rochester, WXXI, the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester, and others. Richard Goldstein of the City of Rochester volunteered to write a calendar program and hosted it on the City's server for four years at no cost to the Arts & Cultural Council. The Arts & Cultural Council administered the calendar by distributing accounts to users across the area who entered their events, by training users, and by promoting the calendar. The events collected here have been used in the Cold Rush campaign, another collaboration with the Democrat & Chronicle and the Greater Rochester Visitors Association.

When the City's software changed, and they could no longer support the calendar, the Arts & Cultural Council maintained its commitment to the project. With the recommendation of Cognitive Marketing, WebEvent was selected as the calendar software that would meet our needs within our means.
